26 Treasures has arrived
After many months in the making, the day has arrived. The V&A team and Pentagram are putting the finishing touches to the installation of the 62 words alongside their related treasures.
The film of writers reading their pieces is being prepared for showing in the cinema room in the British Galleries. The bold identity created by Pearlfisher is ready to make its mark. The pamphlet has been delivered. All the pieces will go live on the website tonight. The writers – well, they’re getting ready to have a well-deserved glass of wine after they’ve had a tour of the exhibition on Friday evening. And the doors will be open to the public on Saturday, 18 September.
Spreading the word
We are keen for as many people as possible to follow the trail and feel inspired, so Rob Self-Pierson and John Simmons went along to the press launch at the V&A on Thursday, 16 September, to help spread the word.
Behind the scenes
The exhibition runs from 18 – 26 September. If you would like a unique insight into the stories behind the pieces and writers’ writing process, 26 will be hosting a special Lates event at the V&A on Friday 24 September. Four pairs of writers will be leading informal tours of the exhibition, talking about their work and experiences.
The pairs are:
Maura Dooley and Gary McKeone
Sara Sheridan and Elen Lewis
Sarah McCartney and Beth Norris/John Fountain
Fiona Thompson and Elise Valmorbida
Simply come to the British Galleries, room 58, anytime between 18:30 and 21:00 and join in.
Share your thoughts
We would love to hear your reactions and responses to the work – whether you view it in the galleries or online. You can share your thoughts here. If you feel inspired to pen your own 62 words about an object of your choosing, then please submit your words on the main website (from this weekend).
